Spindles, Wheels, Looms
For much of Carole's own spinning, she uses a pedal-operated Quill Spinning Wheel she and Gary adapted from an old traditional design, adding innovations that include jet ball bearings and a stainless steel spindle that Gary keeps in shape with trips to his shop below.
Carole has tiny spinners made of mahogany shafts. She fits the shafts into pre-Columbian tiny clay pots that farmers find in their fields in Bolivia and Peru then sell to Carole's friend for her Nashville import shop, Scarlet Begonia. Carole uses those spinners, supported by a miniature bowl to spin embroidery thread.
