Meet the Runyons
Carole Runyon has always loved colors. She majored in art and print making in college. She worked as a textile conservator and restorer, analyzing old Persian rugs, for instance, and then restoring them with fibers and colors that matched the rich originals. Gradually as her spinning business grew, she gave up restoration jobs.
"My work is my play," she says.
Carole Runyon's studio is a converted recreation room on the second floor of a garage her husband, Gary Runyon, uses for his shop. The couple, moving to Fayetteville in 1997 when Gary was transferred to a company in Huntsville, fell in love with the house because of the shop, which could accommodate both Carole's business and Gary's wood and metal-working projects.
